The World Shall Be Mine...

I finally got one!

After weeks of being thwarted by the damnable encyclopedic mind of Samuraifrog, I finally got there on time and won Becca's Movie Quote Quiz!

Me - Captain Incredible from li'l ol' Neptune!

The great thing about it is I get one of these:

Something that no self-respecting interplanetary hero should be without.

And if I manage four more - the world will be mine!

Hi, My Name's Captain Incredible...

...and I'm a nerd.

I didn't know it at first, though.

It was little things that made me suspect, like the fact that the strobe on Michael Knight's 1983 Pontiac runs at a frequency of 385Hz, or that the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) can make it from here to Neptune in 6 minutes at full impulse.

And I mean, come on, just because I know that the breaking strength of batrope is approx. 300 lbs (Michael Keaton and Kim Basinger
in Batman (Tim Burton, 1989)) , that doesn't make me a nerd.
Does it?

It was thanks to Becca that I found the strength to face my fears and learn the truth.

And the truth is... says I'm a Nerd King. What are you? Click here!

I'm royalty.

Now Showing At My Local Cinema...

There's a new Adam Sandler comedy in town at the moment (well, new to us, anyway) called 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry'. Those of you who consider Adam Sandler funny may well have seen it. Anyway, TV and radio spots here (perhaps to save time) are publicising the movie as simply 'Chuck and Larry' and discarding the rest of the title.

A cunning ploy, no doubt...

Okay, I know I've posted on this before, but I was passing my local cinema on the way home this evening and saw where it appeared to be advertising an 'I Now Pronounce You...' triple bill.

For openers, there's

I Now Pronounce You
Knocked Up

As an added bonus, one could also choose to se

I Now Pronounce You

And to round things out, how about

I Now Pronounce You
Death Proof

Of Chuck and Larry, however, there is no sign...

Like I Said... the name of a new blog, scarcely day-old, from the keyboard of Ray, who, once she gets going, will have you in tears of one sort or another.*

And because Ray's one of the people I was waiting on to start a blog, I can now tag her with a meme -
The Meme of Four.

Over to you, Ray...

Remember When I Said...

I may have mentioned in a previous post about the summer we've had here and my general need for a vacation.

Well, it's taken me this long to plan, but in two short weeks I will be visiting Berlin, Vienna and Rome.

I like cities.

I like exploring new places, and I've never been to Berlin or Rome. Vienna's only going to be a one-day stop between trains, so it doesn't really count, but I'll have enough time for a bus tour and lunch.

But there's centuries of history to be experienced, and I'm determined to see and do as much as possible in the time I'll have in each city, so I've a good bit of homework to do between now and then.

Time to hit the guidebooks...

And We're Back...

I've been kind of off the air lately, as much due to laziness as creative block. But now it's time to get my ass in gear and start writing again.

While I do, here's a few sites I found while stumbling aimlessly that made me LOL or just raise an eyebrow, Spocklike:

First, Comic Dice by Matt Hammill - click on each of the three dice to generate a different comic strip - if my math is correct (and trust me, it rarely is) that makes 216 possible combinations.

On the subject of my mathematical ability, I feel bound to say that, while not completely innumerate (I can manage the basics, thanks), I could never have made a career of accountancy. I do, however, have great respect for anyone who can confidently answer the question

"What is two plus two?" with

"What do you want it to be?"

But I digress.

Airtoons is one man's attempt to render the safety messages you find in the seat pocket on airplanes a little more amusing.

Worked for me (but then I don't use airplanes much...).

Next up, there's - no, on reflection I don't think you need to see that.

Or that.

But here's - nope, sorry...

Okay, we'll finish with this - it's from a guy called, improbably, Bucky, who found himself in need of, shall we say, 'facilities', and what he observed.

It is, as my brother observed, cringeworthy...

We now return you to your regularly-scheduled er, schedule...

Thank you.

Oh, yeah - and then there's Wondermark...

(Note: I had planned on posting this last year, but somehow couldn't bring myself to click on "Publish"). My dad passed in...
